Sunday was a vintage performance by New England Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty. The veteran picked off young New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson not once but twice, playing a key role in the team's 22-17 win.
McCourty's performance has now pushed him to the top of the active INT leaderboard. He had a hilarious response to finding out about his new claim to fame.
McCourty roasted himself by simply saying, "I'm just old." Age and endurance has certainly helped the 35-year-old get to this point, but it also speaks to his pure talent that he's still making plays in this stage of his career.
McCourty's been a mainstay of the Pats' secondary ever since he was a first-round pick by the team in 2010. He racked up a whopping 7 INTs that season while earning Second Team All-Pro honors, the first of three selections for the Rutgers product.
The veteran defensive back has recorded at least 1 interception in every year of his career. That streak was in a little jeopardy to begin this season after going INT-less, but he made up for it with his pair of picks in Week 8.
McCourty will look to keep setting the tone for this secondary in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds project New England as a 5.5-point favorite ahead of that contest.
