Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was involved in a frightening car accident on Monday, sending shockwaves throughout the NFL. Initial reports revealed that it was a one-car accident and that Garrett had a female passenger with him, but fans were left in the dark regarding what caused the incident.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero has revealed more details on the accident now that Garrett has been discharged from the hospital. The situation allegedly occurred when the Browns defender swerved his Porsche to avoid hitting an animal, only for the car to flip "multiple times" due to a wet road.

The good news is that "Garrett's injuries aren't life-threatening," according to Pelissero. While more testing needs to be done, it's looking like he'll make a full recovery and should return to the field this season. Regardless, the worst-case scenario was clearly avoided.

Now in his sixth season, Garrett has made a name for himself as one of the NFL's top defenders. The former 2017 first overall selection has been named All-Pro and to the Pro Bowl in three of the four previous seasons, missing both marks in 2019 when he only played 10 games due to injury.

Garett has also played 86% of defensive snaps for Cleveland this season, so his absence will be felt no matter how many games he misses. He's been disruptive to begin the campaign, recording 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 5 quarterback hits to go along with his 7 tackles (4 for a loss).

Further testing will reveal if Garrett can suit up in Week 4, though it might be a long shot. Fortunately, the Browns' upcoming matchup isn't the most difficult as they're set to face the lowly Atlanta Falcons on the road. Cleveland is currently favored by 1.5 points on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.

Nevertheless, hopefully Garrett has a full recovery and can return to action sooner than later.
