DeAndre Hopkins is one of the most consistent WRs in fantasy football. He hasn't caught fewer than six passes in a game since Week 4, and in those last eight weeks he's averaging 10.9 targets, 8.1 receptions, 82.9 yards and 20.2 PPR fantasy points per game.

He draws an incredibly tough test this week though, taking on the New England Patriots and shutdown corner Stephon Gilmore, which hurts his fantasy outlook for Week 13.

Gilmore hasn't been tested by many top wideouts this season, but he's kept the ones he's faced firmly in check, and he just absolutely dominated a superstar WR in Amari Cooper in Week 12, holding him to zero receptions on only two targets.

Gilmore plays a big part in a larger trend of the Patriots defense being a nightmare fantasy football matchup for anyone involved in the passing game.

The Pats check in at first overall and first against the pass in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA rankings, and they're holding opposing wideouts to the fewest PPR fantasy points per game. They're allowing 19% fewer fantasy points to the position than even the second-best defense.

Of course, it's hard to downgrade Hopkins too much. He's fourth among wideouts in PPR fantasy points per game on the year, and he's not someone you're going to want to bench in most fantasy formats.

The downgrade from the matchup leaves Hopkins sitting at WR7 in our Week 13 PPR fantasy football rankings.
