The Arizona Cardinals earned a potentially season-saving win in Week 10 over the Los Angeles Rams. Star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was a key part of the offense waking up in this contest, as he continually beat Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey during Sunday afternoon.
It turns out Hopkins completely owned Ramsey when matched up against the All-Pro defender.
Next Gen Stats reports Hopkins lined up against Ramsey on 26 of his 39 routes run in Week 10. The Cards' stud pass-catcher clearly outplayed the Rams' defensive captain, recording 8 catches for 83 yards when covered by Ramsey.
That reception total is the highest given up by a defender to one receiver in the past two seasons, highlighting how much of a mismatch this was.
Hopkins simply beat Ramsey over and over again on Sunday. Ramsey's inability to stop Arizona's top wideout proved crucial in the Rams giving up 27 points to an offense that has struggled at times to score in 2022.
To Ramsey's credit, he's not the only one to get overpowered by Hopkins since his return from suspension. The five-time Pro Bowl wideout is averaging an impressive 9.0 receptions and 99.0 yards per game over his first four contests.
Hopkins keeping this play up would be massive for the Cards, who are still without fellow star Marquise Brown as he recovers from a serious ankle injury.
