The Chicago Cubs made a free agency splash when they signed star Japanese outfielder Seiya Suzuki to a five-year, $85 million contract on Friday.

A five-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), Suzuki was one of the most prolific targets during the MLB offseason. But, unlike other star free-agents around baseball, the signing comes with a bit of mystique.

Fortunately, manager David Ross revealed a timeline for Suzuki's Spring Training debut and the first glimpse Cubs fans can get of their new star.

Ross told media that Suzuki will make is debut on Friday, March 25 when Chicago hosts the Colorado Rockies at Sloan Park in Mesa, AZ. The game will be played at 4:05 p.m. EST.

It's easy for most MLB fans to understand what they're getting when a high-profile player like Carlos Correa or Trevor Story switches teams. But, there's only so many YouTube highlights a Cubs fan can find of Suzuki's talents with the Hiroshima Carp.

Suzuki slashed .317/.433/.640 with 38 home runs 88 RBIs in 132 games a year ago. He brings a terrific bat and Gold Glove defense to Chicago's starting nine and something for Cubbies fans to be excited about throughout the 2022 campaign.
