Fantasy managers looking for a bounce-back performance from David Montgomery were rewarded in Week 4. He delivered with 23 carries for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Detroit Lions midway through the fourth quarter.

Unfortunately, the Bears back went down with what appeared to be a knee injury. While not much is known about the severity of the injury quite yet, Montgomery looked to be in serious pain and had to be helped to the sidelines.

Any extended absence for Montgomery would move Damien Williams into the RB2 conversation.

Damien Williams Fantasy Outlook

In Week 4, Williams has turned 7 touches into 42 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. His usage had been declining every week, posting 43% snap share in Week 1, 23% in Week 2 and 18% in Week 3.

But he'd be looking at a lead-back role were Montgomery to miss any time. Montgomery had been handling an average of 18.3 opportunities (targets plus carries) per game entering Week 4. It's fair to expect some similar usage for Williams if he's operating as Chicago's RB1.

Hopefully Montgomery can get right sooner rather than later. But Williams should be in the RB2 conversation as long as Montgomery's out.
