Bad News Confirmed for Bears and David Montgomery Ahead of Week 10 Matchup With Vikings
By David Hayes

Chicago Bears starting running back David Montgomery officially entered the NFL's concussion protocol earlier this week following an injury suffered in his team's Week 9 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
His status for Week 10 was already dependent upon how quickly he could progress through the process. Unfortunately for Montgomery, the Chicago Bears and their fans, the verdict for Montgomery's status and availability for Monday Night Football's showdown has officially ruled him out.

Montgomery will be missing this Monday night matchup, which is especially bad news for a Bears club that's already averaging the fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL this season, at just 82.3.
With Montgomery and Tarik Cohen on the shelf, look for Cordarrelle Patterson to serve as Chicago's RB1, while Ryan Nall and rookie Artavis Pierce could also see some work. Even veteran Lamar Miller could be activated from the practice squad.
Regardless of Montgomery's absence, the Bears are already sitting as 3-point home underdogs against a Vikings team that's been trending in the exact opposite direction as the Bears lately.
Minnesota heads into Monday's showdown having won two in a row, including an impressive showing against the division-leading Green Bay Packers, while the Bears are on the tail end of a 3-game losing streak.
