It was only a few short weeks ago that starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor led the Houston Texans to an improbable win over the Tennessee Titans. However, any hopes that fans had about the QB position have since disappeared and head coach David Culley has decided it is time for a change.

Texans News

Culley has named rookie Davis Mills the starter for the rest of the season. This completely contradicts his stance from about two weeks ago. Culley was adamant that Taylor was the team's starter moving forward and that Mills would only see playing time if an injury would occur.

Taylor is dealing with a wrist injury that currently has him labeled as week-to-week. He participated in practice on Wednesday and has a shot to suit up on Sunday, though. Reports claim the 11th-year pro is not happy about the decision after leading the team to its only two wins on the year.

It looks like the coaching staff would like to see Mills get some more reps in order to decide if they truly believe he can be their QB of the future. The 23-year-old has struggled to show any signs of growth so far, completing 65.5 % of his pass attempts for 1,406 yards and 7 touchdowns (along with 8 interceptions) across eight games played (6 starts).

Mills will look to earn his first win of his career against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14 NFL action. Although, it's safe to say Texans' fans have their eyes set on the 2022 NFL Draft at this point. This year's quarterback class is expected to be highlighted by Pittsburgh's Kenny Pickett and Ole Miss' Matt Corral.
