The news about superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers possibly wanting a trade from the Green Bay Packers has dominated the NFL news cycle as of late. However, what some people don't realize is what kind of effects a potential departure could have on his teammates.
Packers wide receiver Davante Adams appeared on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Monday to discuss what would happen if Rodgers left the team. Adams replied saying that his quarterback leaving doesn't guarantee that he'd leave, but he would do some "extra thinking."
The last thing Packers would want to see is the other half of their superstar duo leaving town. After all, Adams proved that he's one of the best wide receivers in the game last season when he recorded 1,374 receiving yards and a league-leading 18 touchdowns.
With that being said, it's still possible that Adams could leave if Rodgers does. Here's a look at three possible trade destinations for the star wideout.
Davante Adams Trade Rumors
3. Los Angeles Chargers
If anyone could help take the Los Angeles Chargers to the next level, it would be Adams. The receiver was born in California and attended Fresno State, so he already has personal connections to the area. Adams has also said that he'd love to play with Chargers WR Keenan Allen as recently as April, so this would give him the chance to do so. Plus, having both Adams and Allen at his disposal would make Justin Herbert one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the league.
2. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos are one of the likeliest teams to land Rodgers, so it'd make sense that they'd consider going after Adams too. A deal might be tough, but it's not impossible to make it work. Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton are already two promising wideouts for the Broncos, but Adams is far ahead of both of them in terms of talent and experience. Denver also struggled through the air last season, averaging 215.7 passing yards per game (26th), but the duo of Rodgers and Adams would likely boost that.
1. San Francisco 49ers
Adams grew up in Redwood City, California, which is about a 30-minute drive to San Francisco. Now that the 49ers have improved their team over the offseason, including bringing Trey Lance in as the quarterback of the future, Adams might be enticed to return home. Aside from George Kittle, the team doesn't have an elite pass-catcher. Adams would be that guy. Without a doubt, the 49ers would be Super Bowl contenders if they trade for Adams.
