Davante Adams Has Surprising Response About Jordan Love’s Effect on Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers looks well on his way to capturing his third career NFL MVP award after a truly special season. With Green Bay's use of a first-round pick on backup Jordan Love instead of a wide receiver, Rodgers has doubled down on his connection with wideout Davante Adams.
Adams was recently asked about how much of Love's arrival impacted Rodgers' performance this season, and his answer isn't what most would expect.

Rating the influence on a scale of 1 to 10, Adams actually picked one. He believes that Rodgers gains his primary motivation from himself, rather than outside influences.
I would say 1 … I think that it may have made him feel some type of way, but I don’t think that’s what contributed to his success.

It's understandable that Rodgers would at least take notice of the Packers' pick, especially since Rodgers entered a similar situation as a rookie with Brett Favre. But it's possible that Rodgers isn't having this performance in order to prove Green Bay wrong, rather he's reminding the entire league of his incredible talent.
With Rodgers' MVP season, though, the Packers absolutely need to prioritize acquiring weapons for the veteran QB in order to maximize his later years. The Love pick might not look great currently, but there has to be hope it'll pay off down the line when Rodgers finally hangs his cleats up.
