With LeSean McCoy listed as a healthy scratch, Damien Williams seized control of the Kansas City Chiefs' backfield against the Chicago Bears last week.
Williams' 16 carries were more than Spencer Ware and Darwin Thompson saw combined. He posted an effective 4.1 yards per carry and caught three passes for 27 yards and a TD against a tough Chicago defense.
Volume is key at the running back position, and Williams looks poised to handle a pretty hefty workload against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 17. Spencer Ware has been placed on IR, McCoy was a healthy scratch last week, and Thompson has never seen a snap share above 35 percent.
Teams often rest their key players in Week 17 when there's nothing to play for, but Kansas City still has a shot at a first-round bye, so that shouldn't be a concern. With a Chiefs' victory, and a New England Patriots' loss, the Chiefs would clinch the No. 2 seed.
Point being, you should fire up Williams as you normally would.
The Chargers are allowing the 13th-most points to opposing running backs this season. Accounting for the matchup, Williams is currently the RB25 in our Week 17 PPR rankings.
