Dameon Pierce has only played five games in the NFL, and he's already drawing comparisons to one of the best running backs in recent memory.
The Houston Texans rookie was praised by Trevor Sikkema on PFF's "It's Just Football," who discussed how Pierce reminded him of former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.
According to Sikkema, Pierce possesses the same ferocity that earned Lynch the nickname "Beast Mode." Lynch was one of the NFL's most terrifying running backs during his prime, literally running opponents into the ground en route to five Pro Bowl selections and a Super Bowl title.
Pierce has a similar approach where he's looking to run through defenders rather than around them. That's helped him achieve immediate success at the NFL level, as he's already racked up 412 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns through his first five games. At +450, he's the early betting favorite to win AP Offensive Rookie of the Year according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
If the 22-year-old keeps it up and maintains that aggressiveness, he appears poised for a long, productive career. If it ends up being anywhere close to Lynch's career, Texans fans will be thrilled.
