Fantasy football managers will have to overcome the devastating loss of Dalvin Cook in Week 16 as the fantasy football playoffs roll on. Cook was placed on the COVID-19/reserve list on Thursday and his unvaccinated status crushes his hopes for playing on Sunday.

Dalvin Cook COVID Update

Despite facing a tough Los Angeles Rams defense that rates fourth in Football Outsiders' rush-defense DVOA metric, Cook was expected to continue his current hot-streak. Cook ranked as RB3 in The Duel's Week 16 PPR rankings after averaging 147 rushing yards per game with two total touchdowns during the past two weeks.

Alexander Mattison Fantasy Outlook

Fantasy managers looking for a replacement should have no qualms about slotting backup Alexander Mattison into Cook's starting role. Mattison was recently activated off the COVID-19 list himself and has shined in three starts while Cook dealt with injuries.

Mattison has rushed for at least 90 yards in each of his three starts, averaging 6 targets, 5.3 receptions, 105 rushing yards on 24.3 rushing attempts in three starts. He's finished as a top-8 RB in PPR leagues in each of those starts.
