The Minnesota Vikings (1-5) will receive a boost on offense this week as starting running back Dalvin Cook is expected to return as the team takes on the Green Bay Packers (5-1) in Week 8 NFL action. Cook has been battling a groin injury that caused him to miss the Vikings' Week 6 game.
Cook is expected to go right back to his full workload, which solidifies his status as an RB1 in fantasy football both this week and moving forward.
Dalvin Cook Fantasy Outlook
The Vikings will need all the help they can get if they want to pull off the upset this Sunday. Getting Cook back is a huge deal to the offense as he has scored 1 or more rushing touchdown in every game he has played this season. He is averaging a career-high 5.3 yards per carry as well.
Cook draws a decent matchup in Week 8 as the Packers are giving up 4.6 yards per carry so far this season (T-No. 20 in the NFL). Plus, Cook has scored a total of 4 touchdowns over his past three matchups against the Packers, including 2 touchdowns back in Week 1 of this season.
If the Vikings are able to keep this game close, Cook should see a lot of touches. In fantasy football, Cook immediately returns to his role of a set-it-and-forget-it RB. He should be in your lineup every week as long as he stays healthy.
Cook checks in as the No. 2 running back in our Week 8 fantasy football rankings and is set up for a productive day in his return.
