D.K. Metcalf Weighs In on Seahawks Trading Russell Wilson
By Larry Rupp

Seattle Seahawks fans were shocked when franchise quarterback Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos, but they were not alone. Wide receiver D.K. Metcalf didn't quite believe it at first and said the he thought the nine-time Pro Bowler would always be throwing him the ball in Seattle.

Metcalf recently joined the Kevin Garnett's "KG Certified" show to speak about the whole situation. Not only was the 24-year-old caught off guard about Wilson, but he had no idea linebacker Bobby Wagner was going to be cut as well. Losing two long-time veterans on the team is never easy.
Everything that went down has left a leadership role or two up for grabs and Metcalf is already prepared to seize the opportunity.
"I'm going into Year 4, and I think it's time for me to step up and be a leader. It's my time in Seattle now. That's the way I look at it."
- DK Metcalf
Metcalf has been one of the most dynamic wide receivers in the NFL since being drafted in 2019. The Ole Miss product has racked up 3,170 yards and 29 touchdowns during his first three seasons and hauled in 216 of his 358 targets. Playing with Drew Lock doesn't have him worried at all, either.
Keep in mind Metcalf wasn't the only teammate of Wilson to speak out. Former Seahawk and current free agent linebacker KJ Wright was on the opposite side of the fence. He saw this coming after Wilson and head coach Pete Carroll failed to see eye to eye last season on how to move forward.

Seattle limped to the finish line with a 7-10 record in 2021 and will look to bounce back in what has become a tough NFC West division. The Seahawks remain a long shot to win Super Bowl 57 with odds set at +8000, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
