D.J. Chark Fantasy Outlook Trending Upwards After Week 1 Usage

Trevor Lawrence's arrival meant an opportunity for a Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver to establish themselves as his favorite target. While all of the wideouts had positive outings against the Houston Texans, D.J. Chark appears to have separated himself from the pack.

That gives Chark's fantasy football outlook a boost heading into Week 2 and beyond.

Chark only had 3 receptions against Houston, but he converted them into 86 yards and a touchdown score. Plus, those numbers don't tell the full story.

Chark saw a team-high 12 targets against the Houston, outpacing the next closest in Laviska Shenault Jr. and Marvin Jones at 9 apiece. Chark also currently sits second in Week 1 air yards at 195, showcasing how much Lawrence was seeking him out down the field.

We saw that duo's connection on full display in the third quarter when Lawrence found Chark on a 41-yard hookup for a TD score.

Chark currently ranks as WR23 in PPR scoring for Week 1, which is a significant return for a wideout who was being taken behind his teammates in fantasy drafts. The Jaguars will likely be playing from behind all season long, and that bodes extremely well for Chark as he seeks to stake his claim as the No. 1 target.

The potential for Chark to not only deliver big plays, but also increase his reception volume as chemistry with his new QB develops, should merit weekly starting consideration.
