He's had an embattled, short tenure in the NBA, but it looks like D'Angelo Russell is finally coming into his own. The fourth-year point guard had a breakout 2018-19 season, averaging 21.1 points (PPG) and seven assists per game (APG) while shooting 43.4 percent from the floor. He was also named an NBA All-Star.

Only 22 years old, Russell is sure to be in high demand this offseason and there are several teams who could make a big play for his services.

With that in mind, here are three most likely free agent destinations for Russell.

Russell had an All-Star year in Brooklyn and led the team in almost every offensive statistical category. Needless to say, the Nets would be crazy not to try and re-sign their best player, especially since they'd be thin of talent at guard without Russell in the fold. After making the postseason this season, Brooklyn is expected to be a big player in the free-agent market this offseason. If it can land a big-name free agent like Kevin Durant, for example, then that should be enough to keep Russell around.

2. Chicago Bulls

The Bulls struggled to find consistency out of their backcourt last season and could seriously use some fresh talent to run the point going forward. Unless they decide to select a guard in the 2019 NBA Draft, going after Russell in free agency would be the perfect way to go about addressing that need without breaking the bank too much. Russell would be a huge upgrade over incumbent starter Kris Dunn, especially in the scoring department, as the latter averaged just 11.3 PPG in 2018-19.

Luka Doncic is clearly the Mavs top playmaker, but adding someone like Russell could solidify their backcourt. Outside of J.J. Barea (10.9 PPG), no Dallas point guard had a double-digit scoring average last season. Adding Russell to the fold should provide the Mavs with a proven scorer at the point to compliment, Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr.
