Cubs Get Tough News on Nico Hoerner Injury Update
The 2022 season hasn't exactly been kind for the Chicago Cubs. Chicago sits in fourth place in the NL Central with a brutal 12-20 overall record. That theme continued on Sunday with news of shortstop Nico Hoerner's placement on the 10-day injured list.
Nico Hoerner Injury Update
The Cubs announced Hoerner will go on the 10-day IL with a right ankle sprain on Sunday, retroactive to May 12.
It was the nature of Hoerner's injury that'll drive Cubs fans crazy.
The 25-year-old shortstop picked up this injury in a freak baseball accident, colliding with umpire Dan Iassogna during a play earlier in the week. Here's what Iassogna said about the incident on Wednesday.
Hoerner has been one of the stronger offensive pieces for this struggling Cubs squad. He's slashing .271/.293/.396 with 2 home runs and 11 RBIs. Hoerner's 11 RBIs ranks fourth on the team.
The Cubs hold +3500 odds to win the NL Central division on FanDuel Sportsbook, ranking third of five teams.
