The Chicago Cubs have had a busy offseason as they look to add a turbo boost to their rebuild, which was headlined this offseason by the signing of shortstop Dansby Swanson to a seven-year contract.

Cubs Sign Dom Nuñez

Major moves are one thing, but there are also a bunch of smaller moves made in an offseason that could have an impact. On Friday, the Cubs announced the signing of catcher Dom Nuñez to a minor-league contract.

Nuñez spent all three years of his major league career with the Colorado Rockies. He had his best campaign in 2021, where he appeared in 81 games and slashed .189/.293/.399.

Obviously his numbers leave a lot to be desired, but Nuñez will still be just 28 years old when next season starts, and could prove to be a valuable depth piece at a thin position for the Subs, in either the majors or the minors.

The Cubs are currently +8000 to win the 2023 World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest MLB odds.
