Crazy Stat Highlights Falcons' Defensive Troubles

The Atlanta Falcons ask Matt Ryan to do more than any other quarterback in the league. It feels like this team is constantly playing from behind, and Ryan has to be incredible in order for Atlanta to even have a chance to win.
Don't just take our word for it, though. Since 2016, the Falcons are actually 0-18 when scoring fewer than 20 points.
Since 2016, #Falcons are 2-21 (.087) when scoring fewer than 23 points in a game, the fewest wins and worst win% in the NFL in that time.

They're 0-18 when they score fewer than 20 points. Only the Bengals (0-30) are worse.
That's the second-worst such mark in the league during that span, trailing only the Cincinnati Bengals. Atlanta is also 2-21 in that time when scoring fewer than 23 points, which is the fewest wins and worst win percentage in the league during that span.
That's a ridiculous burden to put on Ryan's shoulders. The fact that he's led Atlanta to a 35-30 record in that time is extremely impressive.
Atlanta's defense did begin to show some real promise down the stretch last year, so hopefully that unit can rebound from the 38-point outing it surrendered to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1.
