The Carolina Panthers need all the defensive help they can get when they travel to face the LA Rams in Week 6 action. The Panthers would love to have cornerback Jaycee Horn on the field for the matchup, but the talented sophomore has sat out of practice this week with a hip injury.

Fans hoping for clarification on Horn's status were left with more questions than answers on Friday. At 11:29 a.m. ET, The Associated Press' Steve Reed reported that the CB "will likely miss another week."

Exactly five minutes slater, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler tweeted that Horn has a "good chance" of suiting up against the Rams.

Jaycee Horn Injury Update

Fans will likely have more clarity on the situation once interim head coach Steve Wilks talks to the media following Friday's practice. It could be entirely true that Horn does plan (or hope) to play, as per Fowler, but it might also be true that the Panthers think he could use one more week of rest.

Injuries held Horn off the field for the majority of his rookie season, only suiting up in three games. He's been healthy this year up until his hip injury, recording 17 tackles, four defended passes and an interception while playing 90% of defensive snaps through Carolina's first five games.

Horn has shown flashes of brilliance in his young career, so it makes sense if the Panthers plan on playing it safe. He's been targeted 29 times over eight career games, giving up only 11 receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown.

Even though the Rams have a bottom-five offense this season, you can never underestimate the defending Super Bowl champs. Having Horn in the lineup would certainly help a Panther defense surrendering 24.4 points per game (T-No. 21).
