The pressure is already on in Las Vegas after the Raiders' uninspiring start to the 2022 season. New head coach Josh McDaniels has led this revamped roster to an 0-3 record, and it appears he's already come under scrutiny from owner Mark Davis.
Now a concerning report has emerged from the Raiders' locker room as tensions build.
Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network reports Las Vegas held a players-only meeting following their upset loss to the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday. Maxx Crosby, Derek Carr and "other team leaders" spearheaded the closed-door discussion.
A players-only meeting isn't inherently a bad thing, but in this instance, it certainly speaks to the frustrations that are building in the locker room. Adams wasn't shy about critiquing the Raiders' slow start after Week 3, and Carr indicated in postgame comments that Las Vegas has been lackadaisical in practice.
With cracks already starting to show, it's definitely good for players to get on the same page. This is the first major source of adversity for this group during the 2022 campaign, and how they respond from this moment will speak volumes about how much this team believes in itself.
Hopefully, the Raiders are able to look back on this moment as a turning point for their season. Coming out and defeating McDaniels' old team, the Denver Broncos, in Week 4 would be a great response to their early struggles.
NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook currently peg Las Vegas as a 2.5-point home favorite over Denver.
