For most of the offseason, it looked as if Indianapolis Colts pass-rusher Justin Houston was as good as gone. He was arguably the most accomplished EDGE available in free agency, and he proved he could still contribute at a high level, recording 19.0 sacks through two seasons with the team.

However, Houston's market never seemed to materialize like most believed it would, as he's still unsigned. And now, it looks as if Indianapolis is interested in retaining the 32-year-old's services.

This would be a big get for the Colts. While their pass-rush was solid last year, most of their pressure tended to come from the interior, with DeForest Buckner wrecking opponents as a DT. In fact, Buckner's 9.5 sacks ranked first on the team, while Houston's 8.0 checked in at second. Denico Autry was the only other pass-rusher who generated more than 4.0 sacks in 2020.

Clearly, this team needs some help on the edge. And that weakness would only become more pronounced were general manager Chris Ballard to let Houston walk in free agency.

There's still nothing done yet, but a return to Indianapolis makes a ton of sense for both sides. Colts fans have to hope Houston puts pen to paper soon.
