In a shocking blockbuster move, the Indianapolis Colts traded their 13th overall first round pick for DeForest Buckner, All-Pro defensive tackle from the San Francisco 49ers. Now their top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is the second pick of Round 2 (34th overall).
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins (+800) is the favorite to be drafted by the Colts here. Indy could use a natural outside wideout to pair with T.Y. Hilton, who likes to run free all over the field and can thrive in the spot. They are limited in this regard, with only Zach Pascal and Marcus Johnson fitting Higgins' description and style of play.
If Higgins doesn't make it to the Colts at 34, other options at wide receiver might be Baylor's Denzel Mims (+850) and Colorado's Laviska Shenault Jr. (+1000).
The other clear position the Colts might target, based on these odds, is cornerback. Alabama CB Trevon Diggs (+850) and Clemson's A.J. Terrell (+850) are tied with Mims for the second-best odds. The Colts recently cut starter Pierre Desir, surprisingly, so there is definitely an open spot for a rookie to play alongside second-year pro Rock Ya-Sin.
Of course, the Colts could also look to the future beyond Philip Rivers, who they have signed to a one-year deal at quarterback. Jacoby Brissett and Rivers are both set to be free agents in 2021, so drafting a QB might also make sense. Jacob Eason (+1100) and Jake Fromm (+1200) are the top candidates at signal caller here.
While the odds say it will be a wide receiver or corner for the Colts top pick, general manager Chris Ballard has proven unpredictable during his tenure. He has two picks within ten selections, so day two should be intriguing one for Indy fans.
