The NFL offseason isn't quite in full swing yet, but that hasn't stopped the Indianapolis Colts from getting an early start.

The Colts announced on Thursday that they have signed veteran wide receiver Malik Turner.

Indianapolis Colts News

Turner, 27, has already played for three teams in his five-year career. He was initially signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in 2018, playing two seasons there before moving on to the Dallas Cowboys for two years. Turner joined the San Francisco 49ers last season but was mostly on the practice squad, suiting up for just three games and playing only one offensive snap.

While the opportunities haven't always been there for Turner, he's showed some explosiveness as a deep threat on the field. In total, he's caught 29-of-41 targets for 414 yards (14.3 yards per reception) and 4 touchdowns.

Time will tell what kind of role Turner will play for Shane Steichen's Colts. He's shown flashes of success before, so perhaps Steichen's new coaching staff will be able to unlock some of that potential with more regular playing time. Worst case, Turner's a solid depth option in case an injury pops up and Indy needs him to fill in at WR.
