The New York Mets' pitching staff has been decimated by injuries in recent weeks. Those health issues opened up an opportunity for reliever Colin Holderman to earn his first taste of MLB action, and he's made the most of his chance in the bullpen.
However, Holderman has now hit the injured list with a shoulder issue. He's remaining optimistic he'll bounce back in short order.
Colin Holderman Injury Update
Holderman told reporters after Saturday's game he dealt with a similar impingement issue last year. The 26-year-old is "not at all concerned" the injury and thinks he'll be back at 100% "soon."
This is very encouraging news for Mets fans to hear. Though it's slightly concerning this could be a recurring problem for the reliever, he doesn't appear fazed at all, so he may live up to his confidence in a speedy recovery.
Holderman made his MLB debut on May 15, and he's looked solid when his number has been called. He owns a 3-0 record and 3.18 ERA over 11.1 innings of action so far.
Hopefully Holderman is able to return to the bullpen soon and help the Mets maintain their dwindling lead in the NL East.
