The Kansas City Chiefs closed out Round 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft with something of a surprise pick, selecting LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

The only running back to go off the board on Thursday night, Edwards-Helaire now has the second-best odds of any player to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Joe Burrow is the overwhelming favorite to win the award, at +250, but Edwards-Helaire took a huge jump when he was drafted. At +800 he's now tied for second with Tua Tagovailoa, ahead of names like D'Andre Swift (+900), Jonathan Taylor (+950), Jerry Jeudy (+1300), CeeDee Lamb (+1500) and Henry Ruggs III (+1800).

Having caught 55 passes while averaging over 6 yards per carry on the ground in his final season at LSU, Edwards-Helaire looks to be the real deal as an every-down running back. Andy Reid's history of using receiving backs and the draft capital the Chiefs invested suggest he will be stepping into that role immediately, taking over for Damien Williams.

Being an every-down back in one of the NFL's most explosive offenses should be a recipe for big production in Edwards-Helaire's rookie season.
