After a five-week injury absence, the Kansas City Chiefs finally got some good news surrounding starting running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire Injury Update
Andy Reid told reporters that Edwards-Helaire has a "better shot this week" at making his return as he continues to rehab from a sprained MCL.
CEH's impending return has a chance to seriously threaten Darrel Williams' fantasy outlook.
Darrel Williams Fantasy Outlook
Williams stepped in beautifully to Kansas City's starting RB role, operating as RB4 in PPR leagues since his first start in Week 6. While he's averaged only 48 rushing yards per game, the fourth-year back sees more than 5 targets and 4.8 receptions during that span.
Edwards-Helaire accounted for RB23 numbers in Weeks 1-4 (before his injury in Week 5), and amassed two games with 100+ rushing yards. It's on pace with his RB22 performance from his rookie campaign, but many expected him to take a jump in his sophomore season.
There's a strong chance that Williams continues to work as a passing-down back once CEH returns. Williams' 5.4 targets per game average far out-paces CEH's 2 targets per game this season, although Edwards-Helaire averaged 4.15 targets per game in 2020.
