The New Orleans Saints have finally made their biggest splash of the offseason, and it's surprisingly come after the NFL Draft. Following their long-winded pursuit, New Orleans is signing All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu to bolster their secondary.
It's safe to say fellow safety CJ Gardner-Johnson is thrilled with the news.
Tyrann Mathieu Saints
Gardner-Johnson tweeted out a photoshopped picture that previews what's to come in the Saints' secondary this season. It shows showing himself, Mathieu and cornerback Marshon Lattimore all together on the field, which should strike fear into opposing offenses.
Seeing this star-studded "Big 3" together will surely get fans amped up for the 2022 campaign. Mathieu's arrival takes an already strong unit to the next level and sets them up to pose plenty of problems for the pass-happy offenses around the league.
Gardner-Johnson is coming off of a career year, racking up highs in interceptions (3) and sacks (2.0) while also adding 7 passes defended. Lattimore, meanwhile, earned his third straight Pro Bowl nod after recording 3 INTs and a whopping 19 defended passes.
Now this team is throwing a Super Bowl winner and three-time First-Team All-Pro into the mix, solidifying this as potentially the best secondary in the league.
