Christopher Morel Has Humble Response to Making 118-Year Cubs History

The Chicago Cubs are feeling good following a 7-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night. Although fans are thrilled with the win itself, they're also excited because they got to witness Cubs rookie Christopher Morel making history.
Morel started Monday's game at second base, marking the fourth defensive position he's played in his five career starts. The only other time a Cubs player accomplished that feat was Solly Hofman, who did it way back in 1904 — 118 years ago. But the budding star won't let that get to his head.

It's not every day that fans get to see history being made, especially when it involves something over a century old. Aside from playing second base, Morel has also played shortstop, third base and centerfield in his young MLB career.
When asked about the historical feat after the game, Morel said that he "can play everywhere" and that he wants to do whatever it takes to help the Cubs succeed.
"I just want to make sure I play good and play for my team. No matter what position I play, I need to play good."

The 22-year-old has played incredibly well since his promotion, racking up two home runs, three RBIs and a pair of walks in 19 at-bats while also slashing .316/.381/.632.
Due to him having only played six games so far, Morel is currently unranked when it comes to FanDuel Sportsbook's 2022 National League Rookie of the Year odds. However, it might not take long for him to appear on the list if he continues his hot start.
In the meantime, Morel and the Cubs search for their third straight win when they face the Reds again on Tuesday. FanDuel Sportsbook currently has Chicago as the slight -104 moneyling underdog on the road while Cincinnati sits at -112.
