Unless your fantasy football league uses an unusual scoring system, Christian McCaffrey was probably the No. 1 overall pick in your draft.

McCaffrey is now expected to miss "multiple weeks" with an ankle injury, and that's a massive blow to fantasy managers who spent their top pick on him. It also gives Carolina Panthers' RB2 Mike Davis a huge boost in fantasy value, making him a top waiver wire pickup heading into Week 3.

Christian McCaffrey Injury Update

McCaffrey left the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with an ankle injury after rushing the ball 18 times, and he underwent an MRI on Monday. The results could certainly have been worse, but a multi-week absence is a huge blow to his fantasy value.

Mike Davis Fantasy Outlook

Mike Davis clearly stepped in as the Panthers' top RB once McCaffrey left the game on Sunday. The team didn't call a single run play (they were trailing by 10 points in the fourth quarter), but Davis was heavily involved as a receiver.

Teddy Bridgewater threw 20 times after McCaffrey went down, and 8 of those 20 attempts targeted Davis. He caught all 8, tying his single-game career-high for receptions.

We shouldn't expect Davis to continue hogging 40 percent of the Panthers' targets, but the fact that the team (and Bridgewater) are that comfortable getting him the ball as a receiver is great news for his outlook. McCaffrey vacates a massive role as both a rusher and receiver, and Davis appears poised to soak up most of that volume.

Even though the waiver wire is loaded with options this week, Davis is one of the most attractive pick-ups and is essentially a must-add player if you need RB help.
