Chris Simms Has Harsh Words for Mac Jones Critics

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Mac Jones has to be one of the most polarizing players in the upcoming 2021 NFL draft. Some people have him going in the top five picks, while others see him falling out of the first round.

Chris Simms did not hold back as he had some harsh words for Jones' critics during an episode of Pro Football Talk on NBC Sports. He expects Jones to be taken in the first round and would be shocked if he lasts past the New England Patriots spot at No. 15 overall.

While Mac Jones may not have the pure athleticism that some of the other quarterback prospects do, his production out on the field speaks for itself. Jones completed 311 of his 402 pass attempts (77.4%) for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns during his junior season.

Plus, he played a major role on helping the team win a National Championship. Simms explains how Jones' calm demeanor should not have an impact on his draft potential. People are starting to overanalyze him and take things into account that really aren't necessary.

Simms went on to say that Jones has phenomenal feet and that his throwing mechanisms are flawless. He was hitting receivers all over the field right in the hands during his recent Pro Day and has the pocket awareness of a true NFL quarterback.

No matter what opinion you have on the young quarterback prospect, it'll definitely be interesting to see where Jones gets drafted in April.
