As one would expect heading into the 2019 MLB season, an outstanding pair of aces are the frontrunners to take home the American League Cy Young Award.

Chris Sale (+350) and Corey Kluber (+350) open the season as favorites to win the 2019 AL Cy Young Award, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Luis Severino (+550), Gerrit Cole (+1000) and Carlos Carrasco (+1200) round out the rest of the top five. Surprisingly, Blake Snell (+1800), the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, only has the sixth-best odds.

Kluber – who already has two Cy Young Awards to his name – and Sale are more than deserving of their favorite status considering how dominant they've been in recent seasons. Severino's odds, however, may seem a little high, considering how things currently stand.

New York's young ace has all the talent to put together an award-winning season, but a preseason shoulder injury will force him to miss at least a month before making his first start of the year.

It's also worth noting that the oddsmakers clearly like Yankees starting pitching heading into the season. In addition to Severino, three other Yankees pitchers in James Paxton (+1600), Masahiro Tanaka (+3000), and J.A. Happ (+5000) find themselves on the AL Cy Young short list. Any of the three, especially Paxton, could make for a savvy bet if the Yankees play up to their preseason hype.
