The 2019 season has been a disappointing one for both New York Jets fans and for anyone who drafted Jets players in fantasy football. However, there could be a small bit of optimism for Week 10, as tight end Chris Herndon is expected to make his season debut following a positive injury update.

Chris Herndon Status

Herndon was a favorite target of Sam Darnold's in their 2018 rookie season, and the duo connected for 502 yards and four touchdowns. In a season where the tight end position is both underwhelming and inconsistent for fantasy, a return of a solid player would be welcomed by both Jets fans and fantasy players.

Herndon's sophomore season has brought none of that success. He started the season with a four-game suspension for violating the league' substance abuse policy, then in the week of his scheduled return he injured his hamstring, which has sidelined him until now.

He will also be competing for snaps with Ryan Griffin, who stepped up with his two highest single-game reception totals of the season in the last two weeks, catching all four of his targets in Week 8, followed by six of his eight targets in Week 9.

A matchup with the New York Giants is a favorable one to debut in, as the Giants rank 27th against the pass in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA rankings.

While Herndon has some solid upside, the potential that his workload is limited today as he competes with Griffin and has a risk of being eased back from his absence means he doesn't quite crack the top 12 at the position in our Week 10 PPR rankings. If you're hurting for a starting tight end this week, you'll want to look else where for a streaming option.
