Chiefs Favored to Prove Most Penalized Team in Super Bowl LIV by Prop Bet Odds

As much as us football fans hope they do not factor in the results, penalties are a huge part of the NFL. With the Super Bowl just a few hours away, let's breakdown how each team weathered the penalty flag this season along with props and the odds for the big game, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
The Kansas City Chiefs (-125) are currently favored in the odds to be penalized for the most yards in tonight's game. The Chiefs were right around the middle of the league in 2019 with 6.7 penalties per game (15th-best mark in NFL).
Their most staggering numbers were in the secondary with an NFL-leading 23 defensive holdings along with nine defensive pass interference calls (football database). Their over/under is currently at 56.5 (+100/-130) penalty yards and 6.5 (+105/-135) penalties accepted against.
"The Chiefs committed 23 defensive holding penalties during the regular season, by far the most in the NFL, according to The Football Database. The Raiders were second with 17."

Can't wait for the inevitable "Refs ruined the game" tweets when this gets called in the Super Bowl. https://t.co/8FQDLFEi6G
The San Francisco 49ers (+100) have been pretty disciplined this year, which explains their odds for most team penalties in Super Bowl LIV. At 6.2 penalties per game this season (10th-fewest mark in the NFL), they aren't too far ahead of the Chiefs. The Niners struggled more from scrimmage, according to football database, with 19 false starts and 20 offensive holds. San Francisco sits at 52.5 (+100/-125) yards and 6.5 (+115/-145) accepted penalties against for their over/under.
Statistics do show there is generally a notable drop off in penalties called during the Super Bowl, compared to the regular season.
This table of penalties in the Super Bowl (refs swallowing their whistles) in @billbarnwell's Super Bowl preview is really interesting.

NFL must know that no one wants to see a bunch of flags, but can't just stop calling penalties through a whole season https://t.co/vhuwwEAiAQ pic.twitter.com/ulxm8E1aO4
So keep that in mind when considering penalty prop bets. It would be nice if the title game was not decided by the referees, a man can dream right?
