Chiefs Get Bad News With Latest Clyde Edwards-Helaire Injury Update

The Kansas City Chiefs have a chance to clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC when they take on the Denver Broncos in Week 18. Unfortunately, they'll have to try and accomplish that feat without starting running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
The Chiefs ruled out the former 2020 first-round draft for Saturday's game as he continues to deal with a shoulder injury that also held him out of Week 17. Edwards-Helaire didn't practice at all this week, so the actual announcement wasn't too shocking.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Injury Update
With the NFL playoffs quickly approaching, it's understandable that Chiefs fans are concerned about their leading rusher's health. The good news is that Kansas City hopes to have him ready to go by the time the postseason begins.
Edwards-Helaire's 2021 campaign has been riddled with injuries, holding him to just 10 games played. The result was a bit of a sophomore slump, with his average total yards per game dropping from 84.6 in 2020 to 64.6 this season.
Overall, the 22-year-old recorded 646 total yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns on 138 touches while playing 50% of offensive snaps.
Veteran rusher Darrel Williams will once again take over Edwards-Helaire's lead role against the Broncos. Williams looked great in the role last week, rushing 14 times for 88 yards and a pair of TDs. He's already started six games for the Chiefs this season, so this isn't new territory.
It doesn't look like the latest injury news has thwarted Kansas City's odds of winning this weekend. FanDuel Sportsbook is currently listing the Chiefs as the 11.5-point road favorites over the Broncos.
