One of the widely expected moves at the NFL trade deadline was the Pittsburgh Steelers parting ways with Chase Claypool. That speculation came to fruition on Tuesday, as Pittsburgh sent the wide receiver to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a second-round pick.
Claypool now moves on after spending his first 2.5 seasons with the Steelers. He tweeted out a classy tribute to his teammates on his last day in the building.
Claypool posted three pictures commemorating his last day in Pittsburgh. He captioned the post, "Last day with the boys.. I appreciate you all" with black and yellow heart emojis.
It's always a sad day when a player that was expected to be a long-term piece leaves for a new team. Many fans hoped Calypool's great rookie year -- which still features his career-high marks in receptions, yards and touchdowns -- was a sign of things come.
Unfortunately, he was unable to replicate that performance in Year 2. He then found his role reduced in 2022, clearing the way for his exit. Though there was some friction on his way out, Claypool has been nothing but professional following the news of the trade.
Now Claypool gets to return to the Midwest, and Pittsburgh has an extra second-round pick to help jump-start its rebuild.
