As the Los Angeles Chargers prepare to host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3, there's been concern going around regarding quarterback Justin Herbert. The talented gunslinger has been dealing with a rib injury suffered last Thursday, leading to a 'questionable' tag ahead of Sunday.

Herbert's injury has since had a negative effect on the Chargers' Week 3 betting line. While the team opened the week as a touchdown favorite over the Jaguars, the line dropped to just -3.5 as of Saturday morning, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Justin Herbert Injury Update

Herbert was limited at practice earlier this week before being completely absent on Friday. While the Chargers haven't ruled out his playing just yet, it does seem like the 24-year-old will miss his first start since Week 1 of his rookie season.

Herbert has been his usual dynamic self in his third NFL season. The former Oregon Duck has completed 59-of-82 (72%) of passing attempts thus far for 613 yards and six touchdowns with just one interception. Without him, the Chargers offense would be in a much worse place.

If Herbert is unable to play on Sunday, veteran journeyman Chase Daniel will see his first start in three years. The 35-year-old has started in just five of his 71 career appearances, recording 178 completions for 1,694 yards and eight TDs to seven INTs.

Nevertheless, the Chargers will likely be in a tough place whether they're starting Daniel or a banged-up Herbert. The Jaguars are hungry for more success after their Week 2 shutout win and could catch Los Angeles off guard if Brandon Staley's squad is shorthanded and unprepared.

Jaguars vs Chargers Odds

FanDuel Sportsbook currently lists the Chargers as 3.5-point favorites over the Jaguars. While the line has slightly improved in Los Angeles' favor since Friday night, it's Jacksonville that's favored at -115 odds to cover the spread.
