Chargers' Odds to Make the Playoffs Are Disrespectful

There is a ton optimism surrounding the Los Angeles Chargers heading into the 2021-22 campaign. Quarterback Justin Herbert had a phenomenal rookie year, and the team invested in talent around him this offseason to hopefully challenge for a playoff spot.
However, the oddsmakers still aren't exactly buying into the hype.

Chargers Playoff Odds
LA has +126 odds to make the playoffs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. They're seen as more likely to miss the playoffs (-154), which is disrespectful to a team with legit postseason hopes.
Herbet looked every part of a franchise QB in 2020. He racked up 4,336 yards and 31 TDs (to 10 INTs) across 15 starts, immediately proving he's a young signal-caller the league should fear.
A year two jump from Herbert is expected, especially with a revamped offensive line. The Chargers have turned one of the league's worst O-Lines into a respectable unit after signing Corey Linsley and Matt Feiler in free agency, and drafting Rashawn Slater with the No. 13 overall pick.
And the impact of new head coach Brandon Staley can't be understated. He led the No. 1 defense in the league as the Los Angeles Rams' defensive coordinator last year, and his expertise should help maximize this unit led by Joey Bosa and Derwin James.
After a year plagued by injuries, health on both sides of the ball will be a huge factor in the Chargers' playoff hunt. With Herbert finally given top protection and Staley leading the charge on defense, it'd be no shock to see LA make the postseason.
