Cardinals Make Another Free Agency Splash by Signing Pro-Bowl Corner
The Arizona Cardinals have been extremely active this offseason. The organization has already added big-name stars like J.J. Watt, A.J. Green and Rodney Hudson over the last few weeks. But those moves came at a cost, as Arizona had to wave goodbye to eight-time Pro Bowl corner Patrick Peterson.
The Cardinals wasted little time replacing the LSU product, though, signing another former Pro Bowl CB in Malcom Butler. The deal can reportedly be worth up to $6 million.
Butler isn't the player he was during his prime with the New England Patriots, but he's still a serviceable corner. He received a rock-solid 72.7 coverage grade last year, according to ProFootballFocus.
With the lack of depth (and talent) in Arizona's CB group, Butler should slot in as a decent starter. But Cardinals fans should still expect this team to use a first- or second-round pick on a CB in the 2021 NFL Draft.
