The St. Louis Cardinals are trying to keep up in a tightly contested NL Central race. St. Louis has fallen to 6.0 games behind the first place Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs, but some help could be on the way.
Outfielder Harrison Bader revealed he's progressing from his injury and taking part in a rehab game on Friday with the Palm Beach Cardinals.
Harrison Bader Injury Update
Bader hasn't appeared in a game for the Cardinals since May 24 after suffering a rib injury on a diving play. He was initially placed on the 10-day IL and expected to turn around quickly, but the rib ailment has kept him out of the lineup longer than anticipated. Now that he's seeing live game action once again, that's a great sign regarding a return in the coming weeks.
St. Louis' starting centerfielder recorded 4 home runs and 9 RBI while slashing .219/.301/.411 over his first 22 games this year. Those aren't stellar numbers, but getting him back 100% healthy would make a difference for the Cardinals down the stretch of the season.
