Wednesday night was yet another chapter in the St. Louis Cardinals' incredible 2022 season. St. Louis pulled off a near-impossible comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning, somehow turning a four-run deficit into a walk-off 6-5 win against the Washington Nationals.

Fans are still in awe of Wednesday's rally, but it turns out this victory was even more unique than anyone realized.

St. Louis Cardinals News

The Cardinals were the first team during the 2022 campaign to enter the bottom of the ninth down by four or more runs and win. What makes this so impressive is that MLB clubs were a combined 0-817 in these instances prior to St. Louis' comeback.

Of course it was this team that pulled off something extraordinary. As the playoffs draw closer and the Cardinals get better, it's becoming abundantly clear that there's something special brewing in St. Louis.

Oliver Marmol's squad is looking like a serious World Series contender. They've zoomed past the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central standings and appear well on their way to their 11th divisional crown of this millennium.

The Redbirds getting red-hot is bad news for the rest of the league heading into the postseason. The Cardinals currently own the seventh-best odds (+2200) to win the World Series according to FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds.
