Cam Heyward Reacts to Brian Flores Hiring

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Saturday that they have hired former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores as their new senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach. Even though the ink on his contract is still wet, Flores is already receiving support from one of Pittsburgh's key players.
The hiring comes as Flores in the middle of a lawsuit against the NFL and three of its teams for allegations of racial discrimination in the league's hiring practices.
Talked with defensive captain Cam Heyward about the Brian Flores hire, and he echoed the sentiments from other Steelers players on social media:

"He’s a premier coach who had a pretty good defense in Miami. Looking forward to working with him and helping us all grow."

Steelers defensive tackle and captain Cam Heyward told ESPN's Brooke Pryor that he's a fan of the hiring, saying that Flores is a "premier coach who had a pretty good defense in Miami." Heyward is also excited to see how the former head coach will help Pittsburgh's defense grow.
Flores had a 24-25 record over the last three seasons with the Dolphins. Even though Miami had its offense struggled at times during his tenure, the Dolphins owned the 15th-best scoring defense in 2021 and the No. 5 unit in 2020.
On the other hand, the Steelers' had the 13th-worst scoring defense during the 2021 NFL season, so it's clear that Flores will have some serious work to do. Nevertheless, his resumé shows that he should be up for the task.
FanDuel Sportsbook has listed the Steelers as having +6500 odds (No. 26) to win Super Bowl LVII. Only time will tell if hiring Flores will be enough to improve those odds.
