Bud Norris Fantasy Baseball Impact After Signing With Washington Nationals

It didn't take long for Bud Norris to find a new home after being released by the Toronto Blue Jays last week.

The former St. Louis Cardinals' and Los Angeles Angels' closer agreed to minor league contract with the Washington Nationals, pending a physical. Norris could help solves the Nationals' bullpen woes as the the 34-year-old righty has notched 47 saves over the past two seasons.

Norris will need to make a few minor league appearances before he's ready for the big club, but his presence could go a long way in shoring up Washington's shaky bullpen. The 10-year MLB veteran could also become an intriguing saves sleeper, if current Nationals closer Sean Doolittle stumbles.

As things currently stand in Washington and it looks like Doolittle has a stranglehold on the closer's role, but Norris would likely be the next man up in the Nationals' pen should Doolittle get injured or underperform in the near future.

It seems that the Nats went with Norris over another relief option like Craig Kimbrel due to the luxury tax threshold.

Fantasy baseball owners would be well off putting Norris on their team's Watch List and keep an eye on how he performs in the coming weeks. He could end up being a solid holds and/or saves option well before the MLB All-Star Game.
