The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' passing attack struggled in a Week 3 loss to the Green Bay Packers, but reinforcements are on the way. Veteran wide receiver Mike Evans has returned from his one-game suspension, while Chris Godwin and Julio Jones continue to make progress in their injury recoveries.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Injury Updates
Head coach Todd Bowles revealed a bit of good news on Wednesday as both Godwin and Jones will participate in practice at some level. Keep in mind Godwin has been out for the past two weeks as he nurses a nagging hamstring issue and Jones has been sidelined with a partially torn PCL in his knee.
Godwin remains on track with the 2-3 week recovery timeline he was given following Tampa Bay's Week 1 win. Seeing his participation level rise over the course of the next few days would go a long way in being ruled active for Week 4. The 26-year-old has logged 35 yards on 3 receptions in 2022.
Despite a surprisingly tough diagnosis, Jones is already ahead of schedule. Bowles explained that the seven-time Pro Bowler could've suited up in Week 3, but the team wanted to be cautious in its approach. Jones has been Tampa Bay's best deep threat this year, averaging 23.0 yards per catch.
The Buccaneers have only scored 1 touchdown in each of their first three games, so finding their rhythm on offense has to be a to priority in a Week 4 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Tampa Bay enters that game as 1.5-point home underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
