The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be looking to cruise into the playoffs with another win in Week 18. However, they may have to do so without running back Ronald Jones. The fourth-year pro started in Week 17, but his status remains in question on Sunday due to the fact that he is in a walking boot.
Ronald Jones Injury Update
It's certainly not the news that the Buccaneers' coaching staff wanted to hear with the playoffs coming up. Jones left the team's win over the New York Jets after experiencing some pain in his ankle. He did not return to the field and ended the game with just 26 rushing yards on 10 carries.
Jones has totaled 428 rushing yards on 101 carries this season to go along with 4 touchdowns (16 games played). He had been filling in for starter Leonard Fournette, who suffered a hamstring injury two weeks ago. The former LSU stud is expected to be back in time for the playoffs, though.
Head coach Bruce Arians suggested that Jones is a long shot to suit up in Week 18 and backup Ke'Shawn Vaughn is nursing a rib injury. That means it is possible that veteran Le'Veon Bell draws a start in the backfield against the Carolina Panthers just a few weeks following his signing.
Bell could be in line to see a ton of work against a Panthers' defense that is allowing 115.6 yards on the ground per game (No. 20 in NFL). For now, Tampa Bay heads into Sunday as strong 8-point home favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
