The Cleveland Browns have one of the brightest futures amongst NFL teams after making the playoffs last season for the first time since 2002. They head into the 2021 offseason with high hopes and will be looking to improve their roster through the free agent market.

One way they could do that is by bringing in a former Pittsburgh Steeler in cornerback Mike Hilton. Signing this former AFC North rival player would allow the Browns to address a position of need while also taking away an important member of the Steelers team.

Cleveland Browns Mike Hilton

Hilton could be in for a major payday as he has developed into a reliable starting NFL cornerback. The former undrafted free agent has averaged 59.3 tackles and 8.0 passes defended in four seasons in Pittsburgh. He also posted a career-high with 3 interceptions last season and gave up just a single touchdown in coverage.

It's fair to say Hilton is a cornerback that seems to have an impact in many different areas of the defense. The Browns are lacking that type of playmaker. While cornerback Denzel Ward is a future franchise player for the team, Cleveland doesn't have a stud to line up alongside him since Kevin Johnson and Terrance Mitchell are set to hit free agency.

Whether or not the Steelers prioritize re-signing Hilton, the Browns should make a run at the 26-year-old cornerback. He has everything they are looking for in a new slot corner and the Browns would make major a major statement by poaching a player from a division rival.
