The Cleveland Browns may have defeated the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but they lost a key player in the process. Running back Kareem Hunt exited the contest with an ankle injury in the first half and did not return. The Browns have since heard bad news about his Week 15 availability.
Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski said that it's "unlikely" that Hunt will suit up against the Las Vegas Raiders this weekend. The fifth-year RB's status is being considered as week-to-week.
Kareem Hunt Injury Update
The silver lining to Hunt's situation is that he hurt his ankle rather than reaggravating the calf injury that landed him on the injured reserve for five games.
Sunday's victory also pulled the Browns within a game of the AFC North lead. With winning the division still being a possibility, it makes sense that the organization wants to be as safe as possible with its running back.
Hunt proved earlier this season what he can do when healthy. He rushed the ball 69 times for 361 yards and five touchdowns in Cleveland's first six games of the 2021 NFL season. While the Browns are fortunate to still have Nick Chubb, it'll still hurt if they don't have their other key rusher down the stretch.
FanDuel Sportsbook is listing the Browns as having the second-best odds (+180) to win the AFC North. Only time will tell if Hunt can come back in time to help boost those odds.
