Browns Bad Luck Has Already Started

Prior to training camp, the Cleveland Browns were having one of the best offseasons in the league. They re-signed superstar Myles Garrett, revamped an ineffective offensive line by adding Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills Jr., and replaced Freddie Kitchens with Kevin Stefanski.
In classic Browns fashion, however, much of that momentum came to a screeching halt once training camp began. The team has been dealt some seriously bad luck thus far, as their defense has been decimated by injuries.
The Browns have now lost three projected defensive starters for indeterminate lengths of time:

• LB Mack Wilson (knee)
• CB Kevin Johnson (lacerated liver)
• S Grant Delpit (possible Achilles)
Cleveland has already lost three defensive starters to injury. Promising rookie Grant Delpit will miss the entire year with a torn Achilles, second-year linebacker Mack Wilson is looking at an extended absence and slot corner Kevin Johnson suffered a lacerated liver.
It doesn't end there, though. Star running back Nick Chubb had to enter the concussion protocol last week, second-year cornerback Greedy Williams could be on the shelf for a while due to a shoulder problem, and even veteran pass-rusher Adrian Clayborn is listed as questionable for Week 1.

With the unique challenges teams are facing in the 2020 season, player safety was always going to be a legitimate concern. But this many injuries is just flat-out unlucky.
The Browns still have enough raw talent to overcome these losses, but Stefanski's job as a first-year head coach just got that much harder.
