Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock is expected to battle Teddy Bridgewater for the starting gig next season, but it isn't starting out well for him so far. The third-year NFL player seems to be struggling early on in team practice and cannot stop throwing interceptions.
Drew Lock Struggling at Broncos Practice
This shouldn't come as a major shock given how Lock performed last season. He tied for the NFL lead with 15 interceptions and threw just 16 touchdowns in 13 games. Overall, he completed 57.3% of his passes for 2,933 yards and led the team to a 4-9 record as the starting quarterback.
While it is a great sign for Lock that he was in for the first 11 on 11 series, he does need to show improvement throughout training camp if he wants to lead the offense. Bridgewater has some impressive career marks including a 66.5% completion rate and a 26-23 record as a starter.
The Broncos traded for Bridgewater earlier this offseason in order to add some depth at the position. The team has not been able to find a franchise quarterback ever since Hall of Famer Peyton Manning retired and it could be in for another disappointing season if something doesn't change quickly.
This is one position battle worth keeping an eye on throughout the summer as it could very well come down to the wire. The Broncos head into the 2021 season with odds set at +600 to win the AFC West division and odds set at +2400 to win the Super Bowl, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
